Musée Archéologique Saint Laurent first opened in 1846, and it is considered to be a unique archeological site. The Sain Laurent church which houses it has undergone many changes, including a change from religious to cultural activities. Eight masoleums are also located here. Over 3000 artifacts and objects have been recovered here, including pottery and religious artifacts. Guests make take part in a guided tour or view the museum at their own pace. Maison Du Patrimoine De Hieres-Sur-Amby is an 18th century building that today houses various exhibits that show life in the Isle Crémieu region from prehistoric times to present day. Musée Dauphinois Musée Dauphinois offers a detailed look at life in the Alps to visitors. Artifacts such as furnishings and tools are on display, and miniatures depicting Alpine settlements are used to re-create early life here. A special exhibition on skiing, showing the sport from it's early times to present day is also located here. Musee De La Houille Blanche Musee De La Houille Blanche re-traces the steps taken to form hydro-electric power in the area. In 1869, a pressurized pipeline was filled by Aristide Berges, who wanted to power his wood pulp factory. He then used a dynamo to transform the water power into electricity. Magasin-Centre National D'Art Contemporain first opened in 1986, and is one of Europe's leading contemporary art museums. There are two separate display areas, one called the 'Galleries', and the other called the 'Rue', featuring a glass ceiling. Musee Souterrain La Mine Image has been constructed in a real mining tunnel. Visitors must wear helmets to explore the 250 metre long galleries, and here they will learn about coal mining and anthracite.
